I haven't released a single in almost a decade, other than through Soundcloud. I've actually produced a pretty good catalog of songs over the last ten years, both alone and with project band mate, Scott Kerr as SINKERR. Scott has a new solo release out ("Why Angie") and I thought I'd get back to actually making releases instead of just putting them out in fractal videos.

Here is my progressive rock instrumental done with Chapman Stick 10-string blue aluminum Railboard (and with piano and arpeggiated fat analog keyboard bass and drums) called "MiStick Dragon Scales," which released today, Halloween. You can buy it everywhere that digitally sells music for 99 cents, and here is the link over at Apple Music, with the cover art. If you want to get a copy and throw a digital buck my way (I think most places give me 80 cents of the 99), I'd appreciate it and it would probably motivate me to release some more tunes I have done that have never been released officially. Cheers and thanks! Happy Halloween!

Inching up on 1000 subscribers, which is not a huge thing in the world, and certainly not in the world of YouTube, but it does make me an ad partner and eligible for that sweet filthy YouTube ad revenue, LOL! 996 this morning and just four more to go! I made a fractal and then Photoshopped a dragon on it and some winged things and doves. Rocking it out, Down in Fractal Rock!

ATTENTION FRACTALNAUGHTS AND MANDELBULBER LOVERS IN GENERAL:

Facebook Mandelbulber got auto-taken down by the algorithm because of a post that one of the admins (me!) made telling people to report spam videos using the "Report to admins" button. Someone got mad, apparently, and marked my post as a copyright infringement post under the DMCA, which I protested, and the algorithm denied my protest. And then the ENTIRE site of Mandelbulber was closed down for everyone! We're waiting for a real human being to sort it out, but it's hard to get a hold of an actual human being at Facebook, and so we made a hopefully-temporary replacement page at www.facebook.com/groups/mandelbulbers (same link as before but with an S added at the end). There's some 63 of us from the original 6000 members that have made their way over to the new group. And we are carrying on in the meantime while we try to find a human being to undo what the auto-algorithm did completely erroneously. I've absolutely loved the last 6-7 years on the Facebook Mandelbulber group and it really sucks that a computer glitch would shut the entire group down and its 6000 members. All of a decade's worth of posts is suddenly gone, and there's nothing to let people know what happened except for me posting about it on OTHER social media. I apologize for this mess, as I should have just selected the option to delete the offending post rather than to protest it and then get auto-denied and apparently the entire site shut down. ERF!

I accidentally put the wrong song title into my latest upload last night. I uploaded a 3.6 GB file before bed and thought that you West Coasters and other time zones across the world would be rocking out to it while I was sleeping. Then I literally bolted straight up out of bed about 4 am and realized that I had been working on two songs with my new Ozone 10 mastering software, and put the wrong song title on the title cards for the video. About 8 of you saw it before I could change it to private, and then had to redo the title cards and re-upload. Fractal Rock and Trippiness | Down the Fractal Rabbit Hole | “Something to Say” (no vocals) is actually with my song "Laser Lord," which I actually re-did some guitar lines, remixed and re-arranged and the re-mastered using Ozone 10. That's now uploading the fixed version and will be out later today.

I've been shooting for at least one fractal music video released every Saturday night, and was excited at this one. Well, hold y'all's excitement for just a bit and we'll be rocking out to Down the Frabbit Hole with my Laser Lord. Cheers and thanks! Rocking it out down here in Fractal Rock!

Mandelbulber 2.29 is out now! Lots of new features and cool formulas. Krzysztof Marczak and the rest of the dev team have outdone themselves. I've been playing with the dev versions for several months now and it's exciting to finally go live!

From Krzysztof:
MANDELBULBER 2.29
Download from:
Source Forge: sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/
GitHub: github.com/buddhi1980/mandelbulber2
In the version 2.29 there was focus on performance improvements of MC rendering and anti-aliasing. Now rendering takes about 50-70% of time in compare with previous versions.
Next big change is new primitive object manager. New UI for them is now similar to this for light sources.
As always you will find many new fractal formulas and transforms.
Of course there is a lot of more smaller improvements which are listed below.

New in 2.29
Added new fractal formulas
mandelbarV2
mandelbulbPow2V1
mandelbulbSinCosV4;
mandelnestFull
mengerPyramid
mengerSmoothChebyshev
msltoeToroidalV2
transfBoxTilingV3
transfDIFSCayley2
transfDIFSChessboard
transfDIFSClipCustom
transfDIFSHelixV2
transfDIFSHelixMenger
transfDIFSTorusMenger
transfSincosHelix
transfSinYM3d
modified fractal formulas
mandelbulbTails, update
mandelbulbTailsV2, update
mengerSponge3, add aux.color
mengerPolyFold, add aux.color
mengerChebyshev, add aux.color
transfAbsAddConstant, add boxtiling addCpixel
transfAddSphericalInvert, update
transfBoxTiling4d, add boxtiling addCpixel, remove diminish test
transfBoxTilingV2, add boxtiling addCpixel
transfBoxWrap4d, add boxwrap addCpixel, remove diminish test
transfCayley2V1, update
transfMengerFoldV2, update
transfRotateAboutVec3, optimise and add mode2

"Glass Houses" is complete and mastered, and compiled down to gorgeous 4K 24 fps H265 video at 130 MB/s (until YouTube compresses it down, lol). It premieres tomorrow night, Saturday, at 9 pm Eastern (GMT -5).

GLASS HOUSES is done! My latest music release, "Glass Houses," a fairly-heavy heavy-metal song with really crunchy guitars, and fractal video of the same name, and lots of vocals by me, has just been mastered, and then compiled to its final video version for 4K 24 fps fractal animation. I burned through over 80 tracks of vocals until I metaphorically set the entire village on fire and started again with a completely new set of vocals for the end, replacing so many tracks that I created until I knew where this tune was going. I had to kill entire stanzas and paragraphs that I had recorded with 5-part vocal harmonies (which sounds better than saying "5 parts sung differently from each other and not working together at all, even with hours of Melodyning them to death"). I now have another different song worth of harmonies, melodies and lyrics that I really liked except not in this tune with the rest of everything before and after it.

"Don't get too attached to notes!" says the ghost of my music composition teacher from my undergrad, who hated heavy metal music but knew a thing or two about composition and studio production. Don't get too attached to your own cleverness, or at least know when to use those bits for something else later.

I'll have a release of the single and the video tomorrow at 9 pm, after I've finished watching it over and over again obsessively and wanting to re-record that ONE high note that could have gone up higher....

Hey fractalnoughts and music lovers! I have a new release up today, of an older tune I did a couple of years ago, and it's of me singing, which is somewhat rare but happening more and more now. And I'm singing about singing, and posting an older song, because I've been deep in the studio for a week now working really, really hard on vocals to a heavier, metal tune of mine, that is all guitars, bass, drums, and lots of vocals, and not a keyboard or Stick in sight (okay, the bass part is still NS/Stick but not the higher guitar parts). My new tune is called "Glass Houses," and I already have the video done and waiting for me to finish the vocals so I can put the two together.

In the meantime, here is the Mandelbox, which we're exploring this week at Facebook Mandelbulber, for the weekly challenge. I'm doing a simple flythrough just to illustrate a simple Mandelbox animation, that took me all of two hours on a 3090TI and a 3080TI for 3200 4K frames.

Here is my "Croon Dog Moon," a quirkly little crooning tune that is just me trying to be my unique butterfly self, also learn to sing and produce vocals, and then the Mandel Boxing. Cheers and thanks and rocking it out down here in FRACTAL ROCK!
