ENHANCED RISK UPGRADE for severe weather today and tonight across parts of the Midwest. Very large hail (2" or greater diameter) is the main hazard expected from the storms, however, damaging wind gusts (60-70 MPH) and isolated tornadoes will also be possible.

Interstate 80 from Omaha, Nebraska to Des Moines, Iowa is the most likely corridor for severe weather later today and tonight!

A weather forecast video will be posted soon to update you on the storms! Stay tuned.

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the Rochelle/Fairdale, IL tornado that struck on April 9, 2015.

It was rated an EF-4 with maximum sustained winds of 200 MPH! It was on the ground for a 30-mile long path.

It was the strongest tornado to strike Northern Illinois since the Plainfield, IL EF-5 on August 28, 1990.

A "regional outbreak of tornadoes" occurred across Northern Illinois that day with 8 other tornadoes being confirmed to have occurred.
