Yesterday I brought the WoTR collection back to the shed-o-war for a what-if scenario...the Battle of Litchfield (a possible (?) alternative to Bosworth). I'll do a full review in my Sunday video but it was a hard-fought but thoroughly nail-biting encounter between Richard III and Henry Tudor.

There's no going back now. My 6mm Vikings, Normans and Saxons arrived from Baccus yesterday and I have started cleaning and mounting them ready for painting. It's September and I have not only bought my project for the Painting Challenge but the prep has already begun!
I love this part. I'm excited to get started, but I also feel a little trepidation because I know I have a lot of work ahead of me. I've got that 'new project' tingle!

Been out today getting some much-needed fresh air and a bit of retail therapy. Baggins Book Bazaar in Rochester is an old-fashioned second-hand bookshop guaranteed to have the book you never knew you needed. If you like the dusty smell of old books and have a few hours to spare it's hard to go wrong here.

I recently announced a brief pause in posting on this channel because my Dad was very ill and my entire focus was directed towards the family rather than my hobby. I just wanted to give an update and reassure subscribers that I will be back in a couple of weeks. And I also wanted to say a big thank you for all the kind messages of support here and on Facebook, or on my blog.
Sadly, a week ago today, my dad lost his battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. He hasn't complained since his diagnosis over two years ago, enduring immunotherapy, chemo and two rounds of radiotherapy without complaint. About four weeks ago his health took a turn for the worse and he was admitted to hospital. I thought we were going to lose him then, but he rallied enough to be transferred to the care of St Francis Hospice in Havering. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am for the exemplary care and support they gave to my father and to the family. From the medical staff to the volunteers, they have made a terrible period in our lives just a little more tolerable.
The funeral is set for next week and I will try to resume my normal posting schedule once life settles back into a new rhythm (I won't say 'normality', I'm not sure there is such a thing for a long time after this sort of event). I have a new project to start work on, and I need the distraction to help me get through the next few months.

I'm afraid there is no Talking Point video today. As many of you will know, my Father is very ill and I have been by his bedside for much of the last two weeks. He has been fighting a loosing battle with Cancer for the last two years and until a few weeks ago was holding his own. But after Chemo and two rounds of Radiotherapy his body has had enough.
Two weeks ago he took a turn for the worse and was admitted to hospital. I thought we were loosing him then, but he's a tough fighter and rallied enough for a transfer to a Hospice. He is still fighting and has had good days and less good days. Today is a good day, he has been awake long enough for us to have a chat, albeit via a whiteboard because the cancer has made him stone deaf.
Needless to say all hobby activity (aside from some bedside reading) has gone by the wayside these two weeks. And all plans for the next few weeks are on hold. So the channel will be taking a temporary break while I deal with this difficult period.
Thank you to everyone who has sent their best wishes over the last few weeks. Your support and friendship has been much appreciated and a source of great comfort.

Here are a few photos from the weekend's game at Reject HQ. Stuart put on an excellent early WWI game, The Battle of Bonnel set in August 1914. This was a 'what-if' game with the British forming a defensive line to delay the advance of the Germans coming. It was a hard-fought game, but by the end, the British were able to hold onto enough key terrain features (buildings an d road junctions mainly) to claim a narrow victory.

I visited Bottisham Airfield Museum yesterday and was very impressed by the quality of this small but growing collection. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.. especially if the sun is shining like it was when we were there.

I've posted the Orders of Battle for the Yorkist and Lancastrian armies at Bosworth on my Blog. These featured in my recent game and quick strike battle report video and a few people have asked for the OOBs. The post also explains how and why I made the armies the way I did. Every army list is a mess of compromises and mine are no different. Given the lack of any contemporary detail (certainly none that are corroborated or agreed upon between sources) my army lists are probably as accurate, or inaccurate, as any other.

The only 'Big Game' of the weekend that counts for me.
Today I finally got my Battle of Bosworth Game on the table in the Shed-o-War. All my figures and terrain on the table for the first time. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but boy it looked good. I'll try and do a review of the game later in the week, but now I need to lay down in a darkened room to recover!

I always know I'm ready to take a game 'on the road' (in this case to the shed-o-war for the Rejects) when my umpires box is complete. I do this for every ruleset I play, bringing together all the dice, tokens, rulers and anything else required for that particular ruleset. Do you have any similar rituals before unleashing a new game on other players?
