For over 30 years, I have focused on what it means to stretch. Stretching is a passive movement within your range of motion to increase endorphins, release lactic acid, and center the breath for adequate oxygen. Stretching is not a routine or exercise; it is flexible and fluid with the awareness of oneself needs. We stretch for many reasons, not just physical, such as work, the gym, and yard work. We have different capacities due to mental and emotional reasons, and this is where the difference lies. We need to be kind to ourselves and recognize the reasoning behind stretching. It is to remain flexible and fluid physically, mentally, and emotionally. The common denominator I have found with the posture is that we naturally tend to be in flexion; more than half of the day, most people are in a flexion posture. To counter that, we must increase our extension stretches to help balance the stresses. I would be pleased to guide you through understanding what stretches are best for you.
