Background and recording. Clipping described Visions of Bodies Being Burned in a press release as a "second half of a planned diptych", continuing the horrorcore and industrial stylings of their previous release There Existed an Addiction to Blood. Both albums were recorded during 2015-2020, following their sci-fi themed sophomore album Splendor & Misery, with the band creating too many songs

Visions of Bodies Being Burned is less a sequel than it is the second half of a planned diptych. It turns out, Clipping took to the thematic material of horrorcore like vampires to grave soil. In the years following Splendor & Misery—the band's acclaimed dystopian science fiction-rap epic—they simply made too many songs for one album.

Visions of Bodies Being Burned, like There Existed an Addiction to Blood, is a clear homage to the horrorcore canon, so it's necessarily a pastiche. But it's disappointing how academic the

Context: Visions of Bodies Being Burned is the second half of clipping.'s two horrorcore LPs, as it follows 2019's There Existed An Addiction to Blood. While a 2 hour horrorcore double album from the trio would've probably been great, I am really happy this original concept was split into two. It actually works conceptually better too.

The combination of Diggs's hyper-enunciated double-time flow, William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes's twisted industrial production, and high-concept albums strikes me as original. Lock your doors, run upstairs, and put Visions of Bodies Being Burned on, because as Diggs says in the introduction to the album, "the beast is hitting beneath".

Visions of Bodies Being Burned not only meets the quality of its predecessor, but it is also the perfect complement to it. Visions of Bodies Being Burned, like its predecessor, is macabre and monstrous in all of the ways that your leering curiousity would have it. It's a taut exploration of hatred and hostility, one which stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its demonic older brother. Share article

Over the past month or so, I've been entranced by clipping.'s 2020 release, "Visions of Bodies Being Burned". Full of industrial energy, "Visions" is a headache-inducing, horror rap journey that I cannot get enough of. I truly do not believe there is another hip-hop group around right now with a similar style and sound as clipping.

'Visions Of Bodies Being Burned' is here. Like on their previous album the Horrorcore tropes have been pushed even further this time. Originally the genre came to prominence in the mid-90s. It was an absurdist take on hip-hop where the songs were peppered with horror film samples, and sounds, with the rappers taking on alter- egos with

About Visions of Bodies Being Burned In the horror genre, sequels are perfunctory. As the insufferable film bro Randy explains in Scream 2, "There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to create a successful sequel. Number one: the body count is always bigger. Number two: the death scenes are always much more elaborate—more
