I love Osaka, and always feel so sad when people relegate it to "day trip" status. In addition to Sumiyoshi Taisha, there are a ton of other amazing temples and shrines to see that could all be detours to kill 1-2 hours or more. Shitennoji, Isshinji, Hozenji, Namba Yasaka Jinja, and many more come to mind when I think of ones I enjoyed.

I Love OSAKA. ·. February 17 ·. "Tekijuku" is located next to Aishu Kindergarten in Yodoyabashi area, established in 1838. It was a school for Dutch studies when Japan closed the door to the whole world except Holland and China. One of the alumni is Fukuzawa Yukichi. You can see his portrait on 10 thousand yen bill.
