Well the gerund is formed by adding '-ing' to the base form of a verb or the bare infinitive form. base form 'jog' + '-ing' = 'jogging'. I love jogging. 'jog' is the base form, 'jogging' is the gerund. So obviously, the reason why this is confusing is because this looks a lot like the continuous form of the verb, right?
