Pocket Casts has been around for quite a few years as a podcast player for iOS, Android, and desktop. As a one-to-one replacement for Apple Podcasts, it's one of the best options out there. Why? It all starts with the design. Out of all the podcast apps on this list, Pocket Casts is subjectively the best-looking and most practical of them all.

The stock app works with Siri and the news. Overcast has a free version you can try and comes with a lot of useful features: skipping silence and smart speed (increases the speed of the podcast based on the speed the person is reading). Pocket casts I haven't tried it yet because I 'm satisfied with all the features from overcast.

I recently switched back to Apple Podcasts due to the pocketcasts price increase. I'm fully in the apple eco (Mac, iPhone, watch) and the sync is just as good as PC. Still getting used to apples version of Up Next vs. PC's queue but it's basically the same. And the auto download to the watch is really nice.

Unlike Spotify, Pocket Casts enables you to adjust listening speed to 1.05x, 1.10x, 1.15x, etc. Spotify only offers .25x increments as far as I recall. Pocket Casts also allows easy filtering of podcasts episodes. It's easy to find episodes in one show, unlike Spotify where the user interface makes it hard to browse through episodes. 3. Reply.
