The leveling mechanic was Enemy territory, thats what I loved most about it because you could revisit the same server and continue your progression. RTCW was pretty much the same base classes but you couldnt level up to improve them, made for a bit more balanced gameplay because you werent going up against people heavily outlevelling you.
