DLSS 3 consists of 3 technologies - DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, and NVIDIA Reflex. DLSS Frame Generation uses RTX 40 Series high-speed Optical Flow Accelerator to calculate the motion flow that is used for the AI network, then executes the network on 4th Generation Tensor Cores.

Nvidia DLSS 3: Fake Frames or Big Gains? | TechSpot

Yes and no. Nvidia's proprietary dlss frame gen tech is currently 40 series only. AMD's fsr3 frame gen tech is theoretically open source, but not yet implemented in a lot of a games. AFMF is available only on 6000 and 7000 cards, works on most games, but uses a very different approach so isn't directly comparable to dlss frame gen or fsr3.

Why I leave Nvidia's game-changing tech off in most games

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/why-i-leave-dlss-3-off-in-games/
Like most other games with DLSS 3 support, I jumped into the graphics menu and flipped on Frame Generation, and instead of Super Resolution, I opted for Nvidia's Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing

DLSS 3: how it works, how it performs, and when you should use it

Where the game changes is in DLSS 3's frame generation feature. When switched on, as it is optional, the GPU will use its AI smarts to create entire new frames, and quietly slot them in-between the rendered ones. Not unlike the upscaling process, it uses data from surrounding frames to predict what the next generated frame should look like.

DLSS3 Frame Generation - TechPowerUp

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-4080-super-expert/36.html
With this generation, NVIDIA introduces DLSS 3, which adds a completely new way of generating frames. While DLSS 2 focused on upscaling and supersampling, DLSS 3 Frame Generation takes two frames and generates an intermediate frame in-between, based on how things have moved in between these two frames. The underlying hardware engine, the

What Is DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation and Is It a Big Deal?

Why DLSS Is Better Without Frame Generation. So, the extra frames netted by DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation are essentially extra "phantom" frames that only improve visual fluidity, not game feel. As DLSS requiring AI integration is limited to just RTX cards, which means even if DLSS 3.7 is putting a nail in the coffin of performance. NVIDIA Introduces DLSS 3 With Breakthrough AI-Powered Frame Generation

https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-introduces-dlss-3-with-breakthrough-ai-powered-frame-generation-for-up-to-4x-performance
Combining the DLSS-generated frames with the DLSS super-resolution frames enables DLSS 3 to reconstruct seven-eighths of the displayed pixels with AI, boosting frame rates by up to 4x compared to without DLSS. Because DLSS Frame Generation executes as a post-process on the GPU, it can boost frame rates even when the game is bottlenecked by the CPU.

What is difference between DLSS 2, DLSS3, DLSS 3.5, and Frame generation?

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1552794-what-is-difference-between-dlss-2-dlss3-dlss-35-and-frame-generation/
As of now, Frame Gen only runs on 40 series cards. Frame gen also requires SR to already be running in a driver lockout (this is a good thing). As well as improved revisions of DLAA/SR 3.5 added Ray Reconstruction, an AI-enhanced denoiser, this one does not have any performance or frame rate impacts, it simply put, makes the Ray tracing look

According to a recent answer to a fan question on Digital Foundry's podcast, FSR-FG is much more performant than DLSS-FG because it's using lower resolution maps (if that's the right term) for its optical flow . The claim Battaglia makes about FSR-FG using lower resolution optical flow fields is conjecture, he hasn't actually tested it yet and explicitly says as much in the video.

I feel like DLSS3 (frame generation) isn't getting the right credit it

Doubling 58 into 116 frames in darktide or portal has basically no noticeable input lag. I'd say under that, it depends on the stability of the framerate. When you have a lot of cpu stutters it shows in the input lag feel. If the framerate is constant, I'd says over 80fps WITH FG enabled has very low input lag.

Deep learning super sampling - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_learning_super_sampling
Deep learning super sampling (DLSS) is a family of real-time deep learning image enhancement and upscaling technologies developed by Nvidia that are exclusive to its RTX line of graphics cards, and available in a number of video games. The goal of these technologies is to allow the majority of the graphics pipeline to run at a lower resolution for increased performance, and then infer a higher

Define "good" because the specs for the game don't support that claim, at least to me lol. Good = 150+ fps in the new zones on max settings with ray tracing. You will not get that on max settings on a toaster pc. You will be around 40 fps on a 1080 gtx. which is trash.

In what cases Frame Generation and DLSS 3 are worth using? and ... - Reddit

Frame Generation is currently used in only a few titles (more will come out eventually), but it's not magic. Your base performance with DLSS needs to be higher, as in ideally 60fps+ because it duplicates frames and if there's not enough frames to work with, frame generation won't be that useful.

Why the hate for DLSS? : r/buildapc - Reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1583cwc/why_the_hate_for_dlss/
I dont think people hate dlss. Its just nvidia is trying to sold features and not good generational impovement, like it was with 30 series. For example, 3060ti is faster than 2080s and both have access to dlss. But with 40 series you buy 4060ti, get performance of 3060ti but with frame gen which is for some unknown reason called dlss 3.
