I find it much easier to intonate below the 12th fret or so, the 6 string allows me to play higher notes in tune. (3) Chordal possibilities. Chords are easier to contruct and sound better on a six string with the high 'c' string. Cons: (1) Intimidation factor: Mostly mental, it affects the player and others.

Here are some of them: 1. A Wider Range of Notes. Much like the transition from 4-string basses to 5-stringers, getting a 6-string bass gives you more notes you can work with, and this time, it's higher notes. 5-string basses introduced the low-B string, but 6-string basses now offer a high-C string, giving the player access to a higher

This can be particularly useful for playing certain styles of music or for experimenting with different sounds. Another advantage is that the extra strings can make it easier to play certain chords and scales. Additionally, some players find that the six string bass feels more comfortable to play than a standard bass due to its slightly longer

Some 6-string basses are tuned EADGBE, just like a guitar. Basses that are intended to be tuned this way are commonly labeled as Bass VI`s. However, it`s possible to tune a 6-string bass like a guitar, even if it isn`t marketed as a Bass VI. This in turn means that the neck is thicker and that the strings are closer to one another on a 6-string.

4 must-know 6-string bass tunings. 1. Drop A. Lowering your B string a whole step will give you A-E-A on the top three strings. This will provide a powerful low sound that should feel very familiar to anyone who has ever used Drop D tuning on a guitar or 4-string bass.

PLUS it sounds dumb, but let's face it, most people in a bar are impressed. Y a big bad 6 string (bonus if Fretless bass). They suddenly pay attention to the bass player because hey this guy looks like he knows what he's doing. It is dumb, but true. I get far less "fan love" playing a 4-string, even though I'm a better player now. Go

If the 5 string and 6 string have the same about of frets, the 6 will only have 5 more notes on it. Having a 5 string won't limit you, only your creativity will. I'm a 6 string player and love it. I also have a 5 string and a 4 string. The tunings are different from guitar and a 6 string is more likely to have neck dive.

People in my community often refer to me as the bass player who plays with a 6 string even though I don't fully use it. There's not much of a benefit having that extra C string. I once tried out a Fender Jazz 5 string but still liked the neck of my Ibanez BTB406QM 6 string a lot better. So I'm kinda glad I stuck with it.

Cause it's scary! I think it was Anthony Jackson that said the electric bass should have always been 6 strings. The 4 string was created up emulate the upright, but the instrument, though fulfilling the role of the upright, is closer to the electric guitar. Thus, it should have been constructed closer to the guitar initially.

Also, if your bass is wide stereo and your kick is mono, the bass is likely to eclipse the kick and get lost. Thus, it's best to keep mid-range and high-end sounds stereo but keep bass and kicks

With the right angle one you would have to remove the wrench every 1/2 turn or so. If you are just using it to adjust a troublesome nut the right angle one might be easier to remove. From the pics it looks like it is designed to get at acoustic guitar rods via the soundhole. dannyk likes this. Feb 8, 2015 #11.
