The pans were still very jerky and the 1/50 video taken did not look more "cinematic" than the 1/800 samples. ... Both videos are shot using the Osmo Pocket's 30 fps setting, which in reality is 29.97 fps. ... The fix is to shoot 4k in 60fps and you will have smooth footage as butter. Make sure your firmware is updated. I was struggling with

ISO. Recommended: min. 100 - max. 1600. ISO is the maximum light sensitivity of the camera, and the Osmo Action 3 lets you define a range it can work with up to a staggering 12.800! Even with a wider range over the Action 2, you don't want to give it more than it really needs as more ISO means a more grainy image.

120 FPS. You'll often hear about the "180-degree rule," a standard in the film industry and a good starting point for beginners. This rule suggests that your shutter speed should be roughly double your frame rate for a natural and cinematic look. So, for a video at 30 FPS, a shutter speed of 1/60 would be optimal.

In the DJI Mimo app, go to the settings menu and select the "Calibrate" option. This will initiate the calibration process. Once the calibration process has started, you will be prompted to place the Osmo 4 on a level and stable surface. Make sure that the gimbal is in an upright position and not tilted.

The Osmo Pocket does a good job in 4K and the files are a manageable size for editing. When you select the 'Superfine' quality option, the Osmo Pocket warns that the camera will heat up which could be an issue if you plan to film for a long period of time. It is handheld after all. The movement of the gimbal should be set to FPV to avoid

In this case, we will stick with rocksteady but use the colour profile, D-Cinelike, which gives the OSMO ACTION a greater dynamic range and allows for easier and better colour grading. To get to this setting, swipe across to get to the video/photo settings, select the button that looks like a camera and find the setting with Color.

Plus, the Osmo isn't rated for water, drops, or cold temperatures. We like the panorama mode: Hold the handle and the camera automatically turns to create a perfectly framed 180-degree photo.

Try both and see, but I think just using your body gives you the most control. Higher frame rate would help with fast panning and action, which is why sports broadcasts are typically done in higher frame rates. 60fps and above, however, will make your footage look kind of soap-opera like; almost too smooth for just regular filming.

This makes cycling footage look smooth, regardless of how much you're throwing

When in Flashlight position, you are now using the Roll Axis of said gimbal. You must still firmly grip your gimbal, but you immediately notice how much smoother your shoots begin to look, even as you're shooting your footage. Here are my tests and solution. You will get shaky and choppy video while panning if you are shooting in 24fps or upto 50fps. The fix is to shoot 4k in 60fps and you will have smooth footage as butter. Make sure your firmware is updated. I was struggling with this and shooting in 4k 60fps solves the panning issue.
