VOX top boost vs normal! | The Gear Page

9,839. Nov 21, 2011. #9. Top Boost for the AC30 clean. Normal for the AC15 cranked & dirty. (but I do think that the AC30 cranked on the Top Boost channel is the greatest distorted sound ever... I just can't get away with it very often) ShortintheSleeve78.

How to "Jump" the Channels on a Vox AC15 - Sweetwater

https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/how-to-jump-the-channels-on-a-vox-ac15/
How to "Jump" the Channels on a Vox AC15. Modern Vox AC30 amplifiers have two channels — Normal and Top Boost — and two separate inputs (high- and low gain) for each channel. A fairly common trick to get even more mojo out of a Vox AC30 is to "jump" the channels together: plug your guitar cable into an input of the Normal channel

One problem with the Custom Classic version of the AC15 is that it is Top Boost only. With the newer Custom series, you have both Normal and Top Boost channels. One advantage of the Custom Classic AC15, however, is that it is housed in a birch ply cabinet; the Custom is in an MDF cab.

Top Boost is great, but don't ignore the normal channel, it can hold it's own and is very easy to use. CLEAN Turn the Master up between 7 & 10. Turn up the normal volume to desired level If it's too bright, turn up the CUT control until the shrill is gone. MILD DIRT Turn up the normal volume to about 6 or 7 for mild dirt, all the way to 10 for

I voted Top Boost, because the Normal channel is just way too dark sounding IMO. It can be okay with a bright guitar (Tele, bridge pickup), but with humbuckers it doesn't really work for me. (I'm using an older Dallas Arbiter made AC30 from the mid 70s.)

There are inputs for both Normal and Top Boost. In addition, there are controls for reverb level, tremolo depth and speed, and master volume and tone cut.

The Vox AC15C1 has 15 watts of power and comes with a single 12" speaker from Celestion. It has 2 channels - Normal and Top-Boost. Since the Celestion Greenback speaker is slightly mellower-sounding and focuses more on the midrange than the highs, the Top-Boost channel is great for getting the chime and "jangly" high-end and a bit more gain of the original.

The top boost channel has more tonal variation possible and it has a fair amount more gain than the normal channel, which has a darker core voice. My HW from 2003 has only the top boost channel, it sounds amazing. My CC1 has a switch to blend both the top boost and normal channels, I use that amp that way, using the normal channel to dial in

A Vox AC15 has two input channels, the Normal and Top Boost channel; the normal channel has a mellow tone that's ideal platform for effects pedals and low gain overdrive. The Top Boost channel has a higher treble voice with more gain with a bass and treble controls for sparkling clean tones and rich midrange overdrive.

I have an AC15, stock, and nothing at all changes when I'm in the normal channel and I move the top boost controls. likewise, the normal controls do nothing when I'm in the top boost channel. DISCUSSION. So I got my AC15 a bit ago and I love it, been using it to gig. I recently got an ABY switch pedal to switch between the 2 channels (normal and top boost) cuz I wanted more options. Upon getting it set up, though, well, I wasn't blown away. For some reason the normal channel sounds a bit gainier, I think it has to do with the fact

The Warehouse driver also has a couple of decibels' extra sensitivity and a much higher power rating, 75 watts compared with the Greenback's 25 watts, probably not so critical on an amp that produces 15 watts. We already know that the AC15C1 has a wide tonal range, with sparkling cleans from the famous Top Boost channel at lower-gain

Newer Vox amps allow you to jump channels or use a Y-cable without the out of phase problems the originals had. Even on the slightly older AC30CCs, there was a switch that put your signal through both the regular channel and the top boost channel, allowing you to blend the two channels. This is one reason why an AC30 is not a 30 watt AC15.

There's no EF86-powered channel; Vox has chosen two ECC83 (12AX7) channels, Normal and Top Boost, leaving out the vibrato and reverb options of other AC-series amps. And here's where the fun starts: the Normal channel has a switchable bright function, while the Top Boost channel offers foot-switchable 'hot' and 'cool' modes for more and less

Which tubes does the Top Boost channel use on the Vox AC15C1?

So I bought a used AC15 a year ago, a week later or so, top boost channel stops working completely, I knew there was no way I was getting a refund. Since I basically used the normal channel exclusively anyway, I never got it fixed. Fast forward a year, I'm moving to the US from Europe, so shipping a 25 kg big ass amp sounds like a bad idea.
