Nov 10, 2016. Tyranny perfectly encapsulates what makes a role-playing game great. With superb writing, an engaging story and setting, solid mechanics and huge replay value, the new game from Obsidian Entertainment is a must play for all true RPG lovers. Tyranny isn't just about the triumph of evil: it is the triumph of role-playing games.

Tyranny's depiction of evil is fascinating and thought-provoking, albeit somewhat obscured by convoluted quest-lines and repetitive combat. Tyranny is a Dungeons and Dragons game where the top

Tyranny is a RPG where you serve a fascist dictator and make brutal decisions in a morally gray world. The game explores the impact of choice, but the combat and story become repetitive and trivial as you gain power.

Tyranny Review - GameSpot

Tyranny is a spiritual successor to Obsidian's last RPG effort, 2015's Pillars of Eternity, and this game uses the same general engine and interface. As expected, it's loaded with role

Tyranny Review | RPGFan

This review will not do that. While Tyranny shares the same engine and ostensibly similar characteristics to Pillars, it's not intended to match what Pillars did. Pillars is an epic and long narrative with bustling towns, myths and gods battling one another, and a sometimes oppressively deep combat system - Tyranny dips into these qualities

A long and mixed review of Tyranny, a game that lets you be really bad but is interrupted by dreary combat. The reviewer praises the story, the evil choices, and the lore, but criticizes the pacing, the combat system, and the side-quests.

TYRANNY Review - KeenGamer

https://www.keengamer.com/articles/reviews/tyranny-review/
Obsidian's new opus TYRANNY dumps you into a high-fantasy dystopia, mixing its Lord of the Rings style with a healthy dosing of iron-age Mad Max. You'll be backstabbing your friends and allies alike in this classic isometric RPG, where you can carry out your evil overlord's whims, or temper his wrath in an effort to keep an empire together. Whatever path you choose, your decisions have real

Tyranny Review - Evil Has Won, But the Fight Isn't Over Yet

Tyranny Reviews - OpenCritic

Tyranny's bad guy morality system is a little on the nose, and other aspects of the game sometimes suffer. But the game's dedication to that conceit works, setting a path of bargaining and self-examination. Even amidst self-doubt, I did summon a volcano and destroy a library — and I'd probably do it again. Read full review

Tyranny is a project from Obsidian Entertainment that appeared almost out of nowhere. After the success of Pillars of Eternity we expected the devs to be hard at work on a continuation. The veterans of RPG development, however, have picked up a side job - they've returned to an old project, buried deep in their archives for years after it almost sank the company in 2012.

Tyranny Is it good, do the choices really matter? : r/rpg_gamers - Reddit

Tyranny feels like a less polished Pillars of Eternity, it has it's own good things, like for example I liked the combined skills, "powers" that need to be executed by 2 characters. Also feels like the game ends when things start to get really interesting for the main character, another dlc closing the game would have been really nice.
