Time Skip - TV Tropes

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TimeSkip
A Time Skip is similar to the Distant Finale, but rather than coming at the end of a series, occurs somewhere in the middle, usually between seasons or Story Arcs.A Time Skip can also happen when a series gets a sequel that picks up after the Distant Finale.Naturally, this occurs far more in animated series and comics than in live action, unless a long period of time passes in real life.

What's the Deal With Anime & Manga Time Skips? - CBR

https://www.cbr.com/anime-manga-use-time-skips-why/
Summary. Time skips mark the start of a new era in anime, providing a clear transition between story arcs. Time skips help mature the protagonist and equip them with the mental/emotional tools and experience needed to succeed. The anime industry's use of time skips is distinct and emblematic of its well-established tropes and conventions. The

Why do so many anime and manga have timeskips?

https://anime.stackexchange.com/questions/2181/why-do-so-many-anime-and-manga-have-timeskips
That would be longer than one piece. That's why we have time skips because the creator wants to give the main character a new technique so they learn it offscreen. Or so that the creator can have a little break. Maybe some other reason. I'm gonna name the in-universe reasons why each main character I know has a timeskip.

5 Anime That Needed Time Skips (& 5 Where It Didn't Fit) - CBR

https://www.cbr.com/anime-time-skips-useful-not-good-bad/
Timeskips are a big anime/manga trope - and sometimes it works, but sometimes it's totally unnecessary. ... Anyway, Bleach has multiple time skips, a 1.5-year skip and a 10-year skip in the final chapter. The first skip is alright, but not much changes for the characters. ... Finally, we want to talk about a manga that was canceled from Shonen

10 Anime Time Skips That Skimmed Over Important Moments - Screen Rant

https://screenrant.com/anime-time-skips-ignored-important-moments/
Dragon Ball. The Dragon Ball franchise is littered with time skips due to the fact that the characters are always dying and having to be revived by the Dragon Balls. While some of the time skips are warranted and skip over mundane training montages, such as the ones before the 22nd and 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, others are more glaring and awkward.

Time skips are (not always) one of the most overused and lazy writing

https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1878910
Of course not all time skips are bad.If used correctly they can actually add a lot to a show. However, some writers simply use time skips as an excuse to not develop their characters and instead use the time skip trope as an excuse to leave out this very important part of the writing process.

Why do people hate time skips so much? : r/writing - Reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/writing/comments/puv976/why_do_people_hate_time_skips_so_much/
People don't hate time jumps, they ha00te missing pieces and unresolved questions, a time jump opens up a lot of these. It can be done right but the main issue is when people feel like they are missing something. Unresolved questions are the problem not the time jump. Take The Walking Dead as an example of a bad one.

i don't think a timeskip was ever really a realistic option

https://www.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHeroAcademia/comments/unhk9f/i_dont_think_a_timeskip_was_ever_really_a/
I personally think time skips are kind of lame, and are mostly used for developing skills. The act if skipping mostly only changes the character's looks but any charter changes, world changes, or even a change in perspective will have to be explained anyway. It's a shortcut more than a meaningful narrative device.

The basics of what a time jump is where explained in the previous truth video, and since I keep saying time skips are destroying stories, it's time to explain what I mean by that. The thing about them is that they break continuity, which usually comes off as lazy and confuses the reader / viewer. Let's go over the reasons of why time skips
