The basics of driving on ice are this. If you want to take a turn steer into the turn (i. E. Left to turn left) you car needs to rotate to be sideways. The you countersteer. So if you take a left turn its hold left to rotate into the turn and then right to take the turn. You need to remember to hold gas during this otherwise it will not work.
