Thief 1 has far better game and story flow. - I have no idea why they produced Thief. Gold, because it is essentially Thief 1 missions padded with inferior afterthoughts.

So, I'm playing Thief Gold, and in Thieves Guild, when you enter the gear room to unlock the sewers door to Donald's place (gear 47), there is a door with a metal plate blocking its access, but that's the only door with some kind of blockage that you can interact with in this level. I didn't find the key nor I was able to open it with lockpick
