hey everyone! Someone is offering me a JX-3P for $90. I've never had a synth before and this seems like a fun instrument to start out with. There's a couple things wrong with it - the pitch bend wheel is flaky, one of the keys works intermittently (middle C), and there are some tuning problems with some of the built-in presets (though user presets are said to work fine).

Hello. I am new to the forum. I just bought a Roland JX-3P to find that seven of the keys did not work. I took it to an audio repair man, hoping that perhaps the contacts just needed replacement or the inside needed cleaning and the problem would be fixed, but that was not so.

I saw a JX-10 on the LA Craigslist for $250. The JX-10 is 2 8p's with a 76 note keyboard. The 8p & Super JX's are known for smooth pads and glass bells. If you're budgeting $350 for a 1st synth, you might consider a Juno 106. It's not touch sensitive like the JX-8p & JX-10, but does have lots of slider for realtime sound manipulation.
