About 2 and a half years ago I bought an M6 wihout knowing a lot about it. It was made in 1985. It looked good and was still in working order. In this video I share my experiences, cost, why etc about my M6. When buying a camera that is 35+ years old, it should have an CLA or be cheaper if you have to do it yourself.

The M6 is not a great camera on paper. It has a slow maximum shutter speed of 1/1000 seconds, it doesn't have aperture priority, spot-metering, a self-timer, or a double exposure lever. On top of this, it requires more frequent servicing than say a Nikon F due to the need for rangefinder calibration.

This all sounds amazing until you look up the Leica M6 on eBay and realize that this second-hand, 38-year-old camera is still fetching $2,500 / £2,400. Jaw-to-the-floor, welcome to the world of Leica. The original Leica M6 (left) and the newly reissued "Leitz M6" (right) (Image credit: Leica) So, you've done a bit of research, and after

The M6 "Classic" is the same height as the M1, M2, M3 and M4 variants, meaning that it can be used with Leica's "goggle" lenses. This M6 TTL is 2mm taller due to extra flash electronics. This extra height means that the "goggle optics of the following can cause problems: 50mm f/2 Dual Range Summicron.

EM. July 31, 2021. The Leica M6 — also commonly known as the Leica M6 Classic or Leica M6 Non-TTL — is a 35mm film rangefinder camera designed and manufactured by Leica in Germany between 1984 and 1998. If this doesn't matter to you (it didn't to me), focus on finding the right color and the right viewfinder for you. Which leads us to…. Leica M6 with Kodak Portra 400. 3. Finding the Perfect Viewfinder (For You) This is finally where picking the right camera makes a big functional difference.

It will also come at a hefty price at $5,295 body-only, and its release on November 3 may also spur a surge in original Leica M6 cameras changing hands on the second-hand market. If you're

There is, I suppose, no pleasing everyone, and this likely why the earlier Leica M6 Classic retained the original dial rotation. Additionally to the changes in the dial, the M6 TTL also adds an extra 2ev of metering range. With it now operating down to -2ev, it is ever so slightly better in lower light.

<p>I bought this camera a while back and after a few rolls began to see a problem that I at first thought was flare. My second guess was that I had a light leak in the back or bottom of the camera. But a technician in San Francisco said he could find no leak, and I now think the issue may b

The Leica M6 is a fully mechanical masterpiece allowing the user to shoot at any shutter speed from 1/1000 of a second to one second, or bulb mode, all without batteries. The two LR44 batteries hidden beneath a circular cap on the camera's front are only there to power the internal light meter.

The best looking one is a Wetzlar M6 and has the following problems: - The rangefinder patch flares significantly more than the other M6. This seems to be caused by haze on the inside of the rangefinder window. My leica CL has less flare than both. - After the shutter trips, I am able to see a little bit of the seam on the left hand side of the

On a recent trip I shot 5 rolls of films. After getting the slides back I noticed some weird light streaks as circled on the accompanied 3 frames. What makes me crazy is they do not appear on all frames, but couple of frames per roll. And it happens with frames in the middle of the roll, not begi

Hi everyone! I'd be grateful for some help! In more than 10 years I never had any problems with my Leica M6 but now I have a strange problem with the meter... In fact it doesnt give me the correct information anymore (ie. always giving the wrong exposure), so it seems that the meter does't work c

AFAIK this issue has been resolved some time ago (after the usual "Leica: Nope, there's nothing wrong", then the typical internet bruhaha, after which the problem was finally acknowledged and addressed by Leica). The problem did apparently affect a few of their older models, too, but the new M6 showed this problem very visibly.
