Personally I think if they swapped Abbey of the Kings with Kings Palace (Age 3 Town Center Landmark), Abbey would be much much better spot. Then Feudal age English now has a real meaningful choice. Do you choose between Longbow aggression, or econ boom. Castle age says do you want army healing or a keep that can produce units?

France has the stables landmark, which is an age 2 building and it means they get extra value from not having to build a stable immediately. Saving time and resources. Englands other landmark is also an age 2 building with similar feel. This Landmark would need more than just a healing bonus. Maybe an armour buff or access to unique techs.

Well as Rus i used to go Kremlin Landmark vs French mainly. Just to protect from raids basically. When I was new to the game But now every Rus player just gets the Market landmark including me. Every single game I get Market because it's way too good. There should really be like 3 options and the choices should be VERY difficult to make.

This means you save up time and resources that you can use to some other end. As to whether you even need more than one TC as English - yes, absolutely.

1) high risk play. If you put it in the middle of the map you take away vills from resources, and you delay your age up by couple minutes at least. So you're weaker. 2) you're vulnerable, as the opponent will seek to get rid of that forward base, as since Abbey can't heal in combat you now have to protect that one as well.
