Feb 21, 2022. #1. Of the following, which is the best OD for a vox ac15c1 amp and why? -XOTIC AC BOOSTER. -ARCHER KLON. -EQD PALISADES. -BOILING POINT OD. -SUHR SHIBA DRIVE. Of those, only the archer is not based on a tube screamer, pedal that I've heard does not pair well with a vox.

A tonebender is also supposed to be a good match. I tried a Throbak Stonebender, but I didn't really care for the sound. Maybe a good treble booster will work well too. The other two overdrives I would consider is the Timmy and Crowther Hotcake. But for the money, the SHOD cb is a great pedal, and a good price too.

It's easier to make a Fender sound like a Vox than make a Vox sound like a Fender, plus the AC15 can be picky with certain pedals where the BDlx tends to be more neutral. There's not much gain on the dirt channel with the BDlx but you can use it as a solo boost for your favorite OD/distortion pedal. To make the Vox a two channel amp playing

I've had good luck with more transparent pedals. The Vox character is so distinct that it seems to clash with many dirt pedals. I just recently picked up a Wampler Ecstasy (touted as being a transparent drive), and I think that it sounds FANTASTIC with my Nolatone CL30 (which is essentially an AC30 normal channel). Boosts are really good with

catweekend. ADMIN MOD. Drive pedals for Vox Ac15 (Help) I'm about to get a Vox Ac15 as my first ever tube amp. My first choice would be a Fender but in my country they're really expensive and out of my reach for now. I play mostly Indie Rock (think Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse) and some Pop Rock (Coldplay, the 1975) and i'm asking for some

The mid hump can get to be a bit much coming through a Vox, but with the gain down it still shapes the sound nicely without being overly shrill. YMMV. As for other drive pedals, RATs do sound great through an AC15, so you can't go wrong there. I personally have a Boss Blues Driver that I absolutely love the sound of.

The AC15C1 is creamy, chimey, punchy, and resonant at the lowest of volumes in the normal channel. The tone cut knob provides a range of dynamic tonal choices even at that low volume. The reverb and tremolo on the AC15C1 are potently fantastic, especially the trem, and are like an extension of your pedal board.

Other pedals like time based effects such as delays and tremolos work great with both channels along with modulation effects like phasers, chorus and reverb; though it depends on the overall tone the player is wanting to get out of their Vox AC15. Another way to carve out a desired tone from an AC15 is to use the adjust the tone cut knob and

If that's just the way it is cause it's a Vox, and that's the bright brit-rock overdrive, then that's cool, just not for me. I love it clean, so I am pleased with it. I just need a good overdrive

My lead tone is kinda Gilmourish. I really like the way the Vox responds to Big Muff type pedals. I wouldn't use it as a rhythm tone, but the violin/sustain type stuff really sparkles through the Vox. I don't like the tube screamer clones, they're just too bright with the AC. I use a Fulltone Fatboost for light over drive. It's real nice.

Posts: 7,737. Found a 15w amp i'm very interested in-Vox AC15. I like the looks, the tone, controls, price point is similar to other 15w amps I've been looking into (PRS Sonzera 20/ Fender Bassbreaker 15/ Fender Tonemaster deluxe reverb). The below video with Mick Taylor impressed upon me the variety of tones possible with it, takes pedals fine

I run an AC15 with a Vox VT50 and never had a problem with dirt pedals. High gain pedals when the AC15 is cranked tends to be wonky as the headroom is not so high. Fuzz pedals though shine through the AC15. Best way it to try out before you commit. I run 3 dirt pedals on my board- Booshy Box Fuzz, MXR Wylde OD and Tech 21 XXL (for high gain).

Compression, boost, EQ, wah, overdrive, fuzz (all the 'dry' effects) go to both amps. Modulation, delay and reverb (all the 'wet' effects) only goes to one amp: we call this the wet amp. The amp that doesn't get the 'wet' effects we call the dry amp. It's pretty simple in theory, but you need to be aware of a bunch of things

- If the amp seems too loud, try turning down the channel volume if your master volume is already down. - Stacking overdrives with a Vox sounds GREAT. Transparent drive pedals work best with Vox's as they already have a bit of a mid-hump. - Big muffs sound great with a Vox through a clean normal channel.

I have an ac15 and a sss strat. I'm looking to get into pedals too and am looking for od, distortion, or fuzz pedals. I'm basically looking for anything that'll give me dirt that I can click on for when I play solos. My band and I play a lot of Hendrix, Santana, Gilmore, nirvana, and blues stuff.

Generally, pedals with good control over EQ. Specifically recommended: Crowther Hotcake (I hate it, but this one is popular with Vox amps) Timmy. ProCo Rat. Sweet Honey OD. Bearfoot Emerald Green Distortion Machine. Source. 7.
