Basically, I never cleared Adobe After Effects' cache and that was eating up a lot of unnecessary space. To anyone that has the same problem, just go to After Effects, Edit > Purge > All memory and disk cache. Or go to your temp folder, Adobe > After Effects > Disk Cache, then delete everything in that folder.

Temporary files was taking up much of my disc space with roughly 42 GB dedicated to it. So I ran the cleanup tools on that and the other storage folders, this only freed up a few hundred MB. Since this was not enough I deleted some applications to free up space. This worked temporarily and I was able to use my computer.

There are a number of places windows will store temport files, so you might not be looking in the right place A lot of temp. files are 'hidden' and so you'd need to make sure that 'view hidden files and folders' is selected. Thank you for the screenshot, the only place that 165GB of temp files can exist is in your user folder, please go into the Users folder in TreeSize, can you find anything in there that may be counted as temp files, please provide a screenshot of what you find in there. Power to the Developer!

Here's how it goes: move the file to external drive ... delete temp files it created trying to extract to free up that space ... and then extract to the hd from the external hd ... you are trying to extract 3.8 gig to a drive with 3.2 gig withe the file on it ... moving it to the external drive will free up space used by that zip file
