Nope. We are already seeing drones deployed in combat and in the next 5 years they will absolutely be a normal part of warfare. Breakpoint was a modern game with very very near future tech but people would honestly seemingly prefer pre-modern warfare. 2000s - late 2010s. I completely agree with you.

Breakpoint, like Seige, are good games that should have been looked at as spin-offs, not to offend their Ghost and Rainbow origins. The next Ghost and Rainbow need to be true to their origins and get back to being tactical military games, with a shooter element rather than the reverse.

Imagine if Auroa was as populated or alive as Bolivia. Breakpoint would've been somehow better than Wildlands but no. Motherland was a great update but the world still felt too dead for a big open world. Helicopters patrol better in Wildlands too. Circling bases or circling a certain area of the map, slowly.

Breakpoint's underlying shooting mechanics have always been solid. Just like the game's initial mission, though, everything seemed to go wrong. There were plenty of technical issues, sure, but even on a mechanical level the game had one foot in a gritty, modern shooter, and another in an aspiring live-service game.

It Feels Very Familiar to Play. While minor changes have been made to your minute-to-minute experience - looting and crafting are now possible, for example - the core of Wildlands' stealth-action set-up remains intact. This is still a game best played with three friends, with drones used for recon, plans made for stealthy ingress and egress

In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we see the final form of what Ubi has been leaning towards for years - a game structurally driven by an endless, purposeless grind, and one that can be expedited by forking out money for microtransactions.Yes, this is still another giant open world, another tactical military shooter, and another multi-million dollar production - but every element

Ghost Recon Breakpoint feels like a mashup of many of the elements of not only Wildlands, but also Ubisoft's other recent properties like The Division 2 and Far Cry New Dawn. The game features the typical looter shooter setup, where you go around killing enemies and picking up new weapons and gear along the way.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint has also adopted several features from the multiplayer looter/shooter, The Division. In a way, Breakpoint is very much also a looter/shooter now. Breakpoint has improvements over Wildlands and improved a lot since it launched as a looter shooter. Improvements to mechanics (you can get hurt and that impact accuracy, speed and what gun to use, you have to actually use the map to find a location of your mission, a setting that you can turn off or on), varied expansions (has 3-4 dlc content with Splinter Cell and content from both Wildlands

The Farcry style outpost system should have been implemented. However it should have been a back and forth. You would need to organise locals to be able to defend, there should have been missions simulating training or acquiring equipment. Something akin to a "Green Beret simulator" harkening back to their origins as Green Berets.
