IIRC Subnautica was called 'Pretty much not optimized' for a very long time. I think this may unfortunately be just how the game is. I have a RTX 3060 and I hear the fans on that go into overdrive whenever I fire up Subnautica (with max settings), even though that card should only give an amused chuckle.

Like u/Comprox said, probably not going to be one in the near future. I think the Cyclops has a lot of potential, given the new upgrade system. The introduction of another sub really depends on how deep (PUNS!!!!) the upgrade system goes. There is always the possibility of upgrading the Cyclops itself to a bigger sub, like a Mk.
