The orange tools are the Maktec line, aka Makita MT. The quality is still very good, but in order to keep the price down they are made with more basic technologies, no bells and whistles, mostly corded. They are mainly aimed at homeowner/diy type use. To add to this, the MT tools are orange in the UK.

Yes, had both; the 481 is my current drill. I'd highly recommend It! It certainly seems more powerful than its predecessor and being more compact, better balanced and so more comfortable in use. I seem to get more work out of the battery too.

Weight were about the same in both. Only other difference is price. I've also used the newer 484 which is comparable to the 481. Plenty of power behind it, light weight, brushless. However build quality isn't really on the same page. Plastic chuck and I wouldn't say it's going to be a drill I'd use a lot for masonry work.

The Bosch has a slightly depth of cut over the Makita but I have never researched or used either one, sorry. I will say the Makita comes with support arms and an LED and also weighs less while the Bosch has slightly deeper cut capacity 12-3/4 vs 12" and a couple of degrees on the miter. Quote.
