If you get them desoldered properly without roasted anything, you won't have to replace the switches. Those are plate mount stabilizers, you only need to desolder the stabilized switches and the stabilizer assembly's pull right out of the plate. Then you disassemble them and clip them. As for the rattle, there's not much you can do about it.

Questions about stabilizer mods . I wonder why specifically band-aids? If I use other kind of tapes such as vinyl tapes or rubber tapes will that yield drastically different results? Also for the grease, is it possible to use any other grease instead of dielectric grease?
