I've owned numerous turbo'd cars before supercharging my 9th gen and don't regret going supercharger one bit. I have 10k miles on the kit pushing 386whp/312wtq and never had an issue. The supercharger gives more low end tq and feels more like a v6/v8. You can make big numbers with a turbo kit but most of the power will be mid to up top.

well u can boost 10 psi and retard timing at th track for 1 event and be fine. 10psi*10hp is 100hp. (1psi=10hp) that puts teh civic at 227hp at the engine. I'm not an engineer, but the supercharger being belt driven means more wear on the engine just to operate it, whereas the turbo is being driven by exhaust gasses, which probably equates to about as much strain on the engine as having a restrictive stock exhaust and catalytic converter. The current Civic has a 1.8L SOHC in the LX to DX variants (140bhp) and a 2.0L DOHC in the Si and Si Mugen variants (197bhp). The DOHC is way more powerful and awesome fun to drive. Even the i-Vtec system benefits in a DOHC as both inlet and exhaust valves can have multiple timing profiles. As a drivers car, the DOHC Si is way better!

First of all, there is weight. IF you take some stuff out of the car you can get easily get the car to 2300lbs with driver. Mathematically it take 170whp to get a 2300lb car down the track in 13.9secs and 185whp to get it there in 13.5 secs. Now you need to take into consideration wind resistance and tire spin.

DOHC motors make more power (in almost all cases) than SOHC motors. think of it is a power efficiency thing. SOHC vs DOHC Valvetrains.
