Another way you can edit your render distance without tampering with class files yourself is to download a mod that does it for you. This mod has a 2x render distance and a 1.5x render distance version. Additionally, it offers the Better Cloud Mod. Here is an image the author of the mod posted while using his mod:

The bug they are talking about was fixed back in 1.7.4, due to the internal server always loading a fixed "view distance" of 10 chunks from the player in singleplayer; as noted, multiplayer is affected by the settings on the server and many servers use a relatively low view distance to reduce lag.

Chunks near the player are loaded into memory. The range depends on the Render Distance setting. These chunks may have activity ( mobs spawning, trees growing, water flowing, dropped items disappearing etc.), while chunks outside of the range are inactive, and are stored on the disk. Chunks will not save again if they were saved in the last 30

9. The Limitations of Minecraft's Render Distance. Minecraft's default render distance setting has long been a source of frustration for players. While the game allows for adjusting the render distance to see farther, doing so significantly increases the computational demands on the system.

Render Distance is locked at a fixed distance and cannot be changed on servers. From the pictures, you can see that in Singleplayer, the visibility is a lot better than the Multiplayer one. (the pictures are labelled) I have checked and made sure that the Render Distance is on 16 and Simulation Distance is on 13 on both Singleplayer and

The game actually runs like a whistle on say version 1.12 with far render distances. The new updates where the gameworld is a lot deeper makes it a bit less performant, as any chunk that is loaded is loaded from top to bottom. So before when the height limit was 127 each chunk was 16x16x127 blocks. Now each chunk is 16x16x256.

When I disabled the shaders all together, I was able to see all chunks I had generated at that point and had a much much further render distance. Re enabling the shaders brought the render distance right back down. It's just confusing because I see all these screenshots with people with DH working with Bliss, but i'm just out of luck I guess.

6. Follow. Bring back the old render distance from 1.17 and take away the fog. Ever since 1.18 released I feel that the new way render distance renders hasn't been great as well as this new fog. When I fly with an elytra it's very hard to avoid not hitting terrain because of the fog and new render distance. Please change this and let us

A chunk full of blocks causes more lag. 1. FilthyGorilla44 • 1 yr. ago. You're thinking of it wrong, the game doesn't not load something because it isn't there, it does checks every game tick to update something and see if there is anything in need of updating in loaded chunks. Even if there isn't anything you game still needs to know

Someone Just Loaded 60,000,000 Render Distance in Minecraft, For The First Time. Is 30 meters 30 blocks in Minecraft? Officially, Minecraft uses the metric system, and each block is considered to be 1 cubic meter. When you measure long distances, it's easier to count if you mark the terrain with a space of 4 blocks between each marked block.

I based the naming upon the titles that Minecraft itself gives each render-distance. I do think that 'Normal' render-distance should be renamed to 'Terrible' or 'Horrendous', as playing at such a low render is like being blindfolded. Anyways, great comment; 12 chunks probably is the new minimum these days.

Every time I turn up render distance in minecraft, all the pixels get loaded with the highest quality no matter how far I am from certain blocks and my fps goes down to below 10. ... the game could also be marketed waaaay better if they showed some shots with more than hundreds of chunks loaded in all directions that don't massively impact
