Pickups, No Sound. You plug in your guitar and get…nothing. Here are a few troubleshooting tips to try first to check for a simple fix. First, start with the basic. Check if the amp or PA you are plugged into is turned on. If using a mixer, make sure it's not muted and that all cords are plugged in all the way.

Taylor Expression System 2 Problems. Compatibility. The biggest issue with this pickup design is that it only works with Taylor guitars, given the compatibility errors. It's possible to install it on other guitars but it can negatively impact the tunes, and in some cases, it doesn't fit in properly. For this reason, you should only opt for

I read some Statement about the problems with ES2 Pickup System. I have two Taylor Guitars 814CE Manufacture Date 2021 and 214DLX Manufacture Date 2021. The acoustic sound from both Guitars are beautiful but the Pickup System ist very bad. I try all options with EQ and use a Di-Box. The result is now and is importend frequence about 3.5Khz turn

I own a 2005 Taylor that had the ES.1 system in it. I discovered fairly early on that the pickup tone was very magnetic. Not like a sound hole pickup tone but almost like an electric guitar. I have a recording somewhere, a live recording where I am playing a solo and you would swear that I was using a semi-hollow electric guitar.

On my first day back I fixed up a non-functional Taylor Expression System. Boy, this one wasn't fun! At first it seemed simple enough: there was no sound coming out of the output jack. Nine time out of ten the output jack itself is the culprit, which is usually very easy to diagnose. And here, at the very first step, is where the problems

Remove the retainer clip and take out the battery. Now is the time to replace the retainer clip if it's damaged. The clip can break, which allows moisture into the battery compartment. Pull out the battery and check how many volts it has (most pickup batteries are nine volts). Test the battery with a multimeter.

Common Problems with Taylor Guitars. Amplified Hum or Buzz. The first problem you might face on electric guitars manufactured by Taylor guitars is that you will notice a slight humming or buzzing while playing the guitar. It is a common problem, especially when dealing with any type of pre-amps on the Taylor guitars.

1) Plug the guitar in and turn the volume up. 2) While plucking sets of two strings at a time, turn the adjustment screw associated with those strings (E/A - D/G - B/E) one turn counterclockwise until the sound of those strings diminishes. This will loosen the pressure on the sensor. 3) To engage the pickup for those strings, turn the screw

First, just like above, set the guitarist on the stool and hook up a condenser instrument mic. I've done it with dynamic mic's but prefer the sound/properties of the condenser. Second, use a backup sound hole pickup. These types of pickups fit into the sound hole and are easily inserted and removed.

I took the advice here and looked at the pickup element and saw that the shielding had rubbed off in several places. I put copper tape from a guitar shielding project (took very little) and covered the exposed areas. Restrung and all hum was gone! Very cheap and easy fix, didn't affect the sound of the pickup at all.

Connect up the guitar to the amp and very gently tap each section (you should see a small approx 1/4" raised section that corresponds to each string) of the transducer with a small screwdriver - if it's working OK you should hear the sound from the amp.

Hey all. Purchased a Taylor AD17e and it sounds great but the pickup is buzzy. Tried securing the battery to prevent wiggling and even bought a new audio cable. The buzzing persists. What are my options? Eventually want to play gigs so definitely want a pickup but don't want the issue to repeat if I replace it.

This is a common problem that occurs when the shielding of the under saddle piezo has been damaged in any way and is not grounding properly. If you touch the metal output jack and the humming stops, this is very likely your problem. 1. Try the foil suggestion mentioned earlier, but as was said, this is a band aid.

It's a FANTASTIC guitar. I will admit that the Bigsby B-70 needs the "Biggs Fix" to quell the tuning issues that occur. In essence it reduces the string break angle. This simple "fix" has made this and my Reverend my main stage guitars. Stable tuning, fantastic sounding pickups, no feedback due to the solid spruce center-block.
