From what I can tell the Book Market Variants were a few comics Marvel printed as freebies to hand out at some Library conventions. In the late 2000s, comics were looking for ways to bring in new collectors, newsstand copies were drying up as only a few bookstores carried single-issue comics anymore. Yes, this book is super rare, but there's little to no demand for the normal book. There are tons of comics from the 90s that were rare or exclusive, and nobody cares. I think someone posted an Aphrodite IX #1 variant that came with a certificate that was in a dollar bin. Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

Collectors like me will want all available covers of their favourite comics. The low number editions of higher rarities, when comic collectors and volume increase. Will be more valuable. Currently the most volume on comics is the commons because most cant afford hundreds or thousands on a secret rare.
