If you buy a 40 year contract, and want to be "done" after 20 years, you can always sell the contract. Even if the market collapses, you'll be able to get something for the contract. So take a 200 point contract — 2042 contract — Expires, you get nothing as of 2042. You just get to stop paying dues.

To be 100% honest the math is hard on a 2042 resort at this point compared to renting. Let's say you buy BWV at heck $120 a point. Comes out to $6 a year basically for the remaining points.

All good things must come to an end, and that applies to your DVC contract as well. Every DVC property includes an expiration date, a time when your ownership interest ends. You don't need to worry about any deed for another 18 years, some of them until the 2070s! Still, expiration dates should be a consideration when you choose where to buy.

These days, most DVC points are worth $15 or so. When you have 150 extra points, you should be able to rent them $2,250 worth. It's a clever way to offset the cost of your purchase. You use points that come with the contract to lower your overall expenditure. Alas, many people know about this strategy by now.

Three of the four Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World expiring in 2042 saw significant increases in the maximum buyback price in December 2021.. Median private resales pricing were flat to down in December across most resorts. The one exception was Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge with an increase of $7 per point from $123 to $130 per point.

Dec 6, 2008. Sep 9, 2020. #2. Back in 2007, the expiration date of OKW was extended to 1/31/2057. Owners were given the option to pay to extended their contracts from 2042 to 2057. Some did, many did not. If you purchase OKW direct from DVC now, it will expire in 2057.

I believe the following resorts all have the 2042 expiration date; Beach Club. Boardwalk. Bolder Ridge. Hilton Head. Old Key West (non-extended) Vero Beach. That's a lot of resorts and a lot of DVC contracts and owners. 2042 will be here before you know it.
