I enjoyed rogue more then IV purely because I think it's a cooler concept and shay's a slightly better character. The 2 games mind you are pretty much the same game engine/gameplay wise (with rogue getting a few tweaks). Yes I agree that rogue is way too short and the story is very rushed towards the end.

The story is fairly short, with only a few memorable freerunning sequences or missions. I don't feel it contributes to the assassins story much. And feel the "play as a templar" idea was a gimick. You are still just an assassin. My main gripe with Rogue is the progression for upgrading the ship/epuipment seemed completely busted.

Fair warning though, it's a lot less of an "assassin's creed" game and a lot more of a pirate game. You'll spend a lot of the opening doing normal assassin's creed style missions, but once the game opens up you'll do a lot more missions centered on being a pirate.
