I've pretty much been a lifelong D'Addario guy. I find them to have a certain presence (high end) and power that I dig, and they seem to jive with me as far as feel, oils, etc. But, that high end and power on certain guitars is something I'd like to tweak. I've found that can be done at some

WOW! Nice guitar string, I have been a GHS guy for years but lately they have sounded too bright for me. And the 11-50 sets seem really stiff on my Soloist. So I dropped a gauge and went 10-46 Roto yellows. A very nice string mellow with a great bite. My Soloist loves em and the best thing, I did

September 2014 edited September 2014 in Guitar. Used quite a few Rotosound guitar strings and they don't seem too bad, they're made in the U.K (i think). but it just seems that their strings aren't that popular. Have a friend who used to run a guitar shop and he said he couldn't sell Rotosound guitar strings for all the" tea in China".

Rotosound 'Swing Bass' (STEEL roundwound strings) are THE defacto bass strings, so it's reasonable to presume Rotosound can put together a good acoustic string. Tonally the JK-12 are warm/neutral, in the same ballpark as D'addario's EJ-16 but more bass. I think this is due to being a hybrid light/medium set.

i have used Rotosound Swing Bass 66's since 1977, when i walked into my local music store, and asked the bass tech, whats the best strings available. he handed me a set of Roto's. back then they

In order to get the strings on I had to wind the exposed winding of the E string around the tuning pegs. a convenient void of Rotosound's warranty. I have installed the strings perfectly with the exposed core around 6mm off the bridge and yet there is still a good 1"-1 1/2" of exposed wire around the tuning peg.

D'addarios seem to be of much better quality. Having worked on guitars myself for a good amount of time, D'addarios are the most consistent strings on the market. Also, at least in the US, Rotosounds have always been way overpriced for the quality. If I was gonna drop that much on strings, I'd play DRs instead.

Rotosound's strength is the fact that everything is manufactured in-house, often on proprietary machinery, and the new Ultramag range of Type 52 Alloy (52 per cent nickel) electric-guitar strings is no exception, with computer-controlled winding and tension control playing a vital role. For the purpose of this review, we test two sets, in

Experience with Rotosound strings? For context, I play metal and I currently use D'Addario NYXLs for pretty much all of my guitars. Even though they're expensive, I use them because they come in the gauges I like. My favorite set is their 12-16-20p-34-46-60 set. Anyways, even though they're hard to find in the states, Rotosound makes a set with

Depending on the metals involved and coatings you may get a warm deep tone, or more of a brighter sound. Rotosound produce a string with a winding made from Type 52 Alloy called Ultramag. Type 52, a blend of nickel and iron, benefits from the powerful sound of steel strings and the smooth feel and longevity of pure nickel strings.

Based in Sevenoaks in Kent in the south-east of England, Rotosound has a heritage that stretches back to the late 1950s, but the company definitely isn't resting on its laurels. With a new range of Ultramag electric-guitar strings the brand's big push for 2019, it seems like the perfect time to head to Rotosound HQ and sit down with Jason How.
