"Roland AIRA System-1 looped with a Boss RC-300 Loop Station. Korg RK-100 Original midi'd to a Korg EX-800 for lead bass. I was going to plug the RK-100 into the System-1, but couldn't really match the sound, so I elected to use the Korg EX-800. Otherwise, all other sounds are coming from patches I programmed on the AIRA System-1. Thanks for

The System 1 is a fully fledged synthesizer in its own right, but it can also assume the identity of Roland classics using its built-in 'plug-out' technology. Trailing slightly behind the forerunners of the Aira range, Roland's eagerly anticipated System 1 is here at last. Its grand web site introduction refers back to the System 100

Somewhere, some editor has probably already written the headline "Turn On, Tune In, Plug-in, Plug-Out." After all, back when Roland introduced the AIRAs, the reaction was something like this: "An 808/909 drum machine! A 303! And - some other things!" So, it fell to the SYSTEM-1 - a neon-green, slim-line keyboard synth - to make […]

minimal-camera. • 2 yr. ago. Given that the Aira series is, on average, about 5 years newer than the Volca series... the Aira series certainly has more features, as one would expect. The Volca sequencer isn't amazing, but there are some unique ones like the Volca Drum (6 parts), Volca Sample (10 parts), and Volca Bass (up to 3 parts).

I've been picking up the Roland AIRA effect modules (Bitrazer, Scooper & Torcido), and it only makes sense to have a System 1m because the System 500 modules are getting pricy, and I'm building a Behringer System 100 already. So the System 1m seems like an easy enough investment, even if it has some drawbacks. 2024 might be the year I snag

Generally, the System-1's character is dry, precise and upfront and it excels at synth brass patches and cutting leads using the 12dB filter, whilst the 24dB mode is a tad smoother and great for powerful bass, poly and lead sounds. The resonance and cutoff are smooth and aliasing free and the low extension is extremely deep (one of the

Keen to see what it has to offer I gave it the once over. This will be the first part of the review, in which I go through the basic functions.

The Roland Aira line offers great sound and flexibility for an affordable, though not "budget" price. The Volca instruments are good bang for the buck, but they're somewhat limited, especially with the Keys. The Keys sound amazing, but you're struck with a single wave shape and very basic enveloppe control. If you wish to save some money, get
