Where pretty much anything the Ricoh GR lacks or disappoints is completely outweighed by the compact size and the quality of the photos imo. People are constantly expecting this camera to be something that it isn't. It's not an X100, it's not an A7, it's a small pocketable camera with a great sensor and sharp lens.

The GR III came out in early 2019, so it's over 4 years old now. Let's start off by looking at the GR III specs: 18.3mm F2.8-F16 lens (approximately 28mm in full frame terms). 6 elements in 4

Speaking of the autofocus, the GRIII is pretty snappy. It's on par with other compact street-shooters like the X100F in decent lighting conditions, and perhaps a fraction slower in low light

Measuring 4.3 x 2.4 x 1.3 inches, the GR III should be slim enough to fit in a pocket, but you'll definitely know it's there. It's a touch larger than the Sony RX100 V (4 x 2.3 x 1.6 inches), but

You know, "street photography." On this trip, I switched between cameras as often as it occurred to me, at the time it felt like an even spilt between the two. I came back with over 800 digital photos and approximately 150 film photos, and the amount of "keepers" wasn't what I'd wanted out of it all (and I try to maintain pretty low

Learn about light: look at the direction, type of light, color etc etc. I assume you know how to work the settings and controls on a manual camera, if not this would be a good time to learn those. Practice around your friends and family to get comfortable shooting people. Practice by shooting 100 frames each day.

Ricoh might not be the first brand that pops to mind when thinking about photography, but its GRII camera won the hearts of photographers around the world with its excellent image quality, sturdy but stylish build, and enviously compact body. To many, it was - and still is - the best alternative to exorbitantly priced Leica street-shooters and bulky DSLRs. In fact, its stellar reputation

For a very bright street with lots of street lights and shop lights, I have been known to use f /8 - f /2.8. But mostly the exposure falls within the range of f /5.6 - f /2.8. Especially as you enter darker areas you will want to increase the aperture to a wider setting. f /8 - f /1.8 are the best night street photography aperture settings.

For shooting outside the griiix is "easier" , for family and friends where you get super close the griii is pretty funny. Going from my gut feeling the griiix would fit you better, youd have best of both cameras ( you only would need to steep a bit back if you are too close but its really noting dramatic) , on the other hand if you like to get
