I changed the intakes a little bit, and I also added some rollers. Hood thing is very temporary.

Most compact and agile designs should not need deploying intakes. However, it is important to not simply bolt them onto the chassis. An intake should have a hinge that lets it morph a little to pull in a ball. We put ours on the rear driving axle for the intake, but one of my buddies put his on the front roller, while leaving the rear affixed.

Now that the meta designs are relatively evident, I see both advanced trays and tray db4s remaining prevalent for quite some time. Both of these designs use intake rollers to pull cubes onto a tray. This begs the question, what kind of intake roller is best? This post is a general purpose question to see what's working well for the community. Intake rollers need to provide enough compression

Gameoa November 11, 2020, 1:39am 11. Currently we are using a couple high strength gears wrapped in foam and rubber bands. This has proven to be a very viable and effective "compliance" wheel design. Out of the intakes I have personally seen tested and during matches throughout competition, it has been the best intake design.

The design allows for both pick-up and release of objects with equal ease by just reversing the roller direction. Disadvantages: The intake width might restrict the size of objects it can capture effectively. Requires synchronization between the two rollers, leading to potential mechanical and programming complexities.

Another option would be to use a pair of sprockets with rubber bands strung across it as a "roller" and use a few of those to intake the balls vertically.

Teams in competing in VEX robotics commonly use sprockets as part of a rubber band intake or indexer system for spherical objects. Games such as Change Up are well suited to these designs We set out to create a dedicated part that offers a number of advantages over the traditional sprocket system: Cleaner, stronger rubber band mounting: The rubber bands fit perfectly into the slots of this

Technical Technical Discussion. MichaelBick May 16, 2013, 2:22am 1. I think building a competitive roller intake was one of the hardest challenges this year. Our team for example trashed our intake design midseason, after spending many, many hours prototyping. However many teams still built fast intakes, despite our team's troubles.

Other important elements of an intake are tension, torque, speed, angle, space from the ground, Strength an durability are huge. Rollers don't work if they're broken. Compression is key. It doesn't matter if you have a 20 cube capacity tray if you can't push 20 cubes up your tray. Torque.

So I think where people are getting confused here is when they hear intake roller they think an intake that spins rollers. But you're talking about a specific part, so based on what you said, two sprockets with rubber bands in between them would be what you may be what you're looking for. Nope, they're straight ass.

the different size sprockets change speed and torque, personally our intake can do 11 cubes and possibly more with a 100 rpm motor and a 24t sprocket and I have seen 200rpm motors with 18t sprockets do 10 easily ... if your intake is parallel to your tray it means all the force the intake rollers are exerting on the cube go to moving it up the
