So yeah I think for me, Prey is the best "immersive" sim as I spent a lot of time absorbing the atmosphere and reading most textual content. Loved Prey until the Nightmares came along. Kinda broke the pacing for me. I like to plan and execute. Hard to do that with a massive asshole chasing you down every 20 min lol.

Since then, I've played a good number of Immersive Sims including all the Bioshock games and both Dishonored games. Objectively, Prey is the best of it's very niche genre. I agree 100%. Immersive sims aren't a genre, it's a design philosophy. It is a genre, though. Wikipedia is not a 100% reliable source of course, I do agree that it is a design philosophy, but it is a genre.

This 100%. Deus Ex 1 is still the best Immersive Sim ever created as a whole, but Prey is the only game that managed to be REALLY close to it when it come to overall game design, only lacking in the writing department, story is good but obviously Deus Ex as way more interesting and mature thematic.
