But I was always a bit disappointed that the Positive Film mode of the GR3 was poor compared to the GR and GR2. I looked for a long time, and the best Positive Film settings I have found are by photographer Jakob Iglhaut, and they bring image output of the GR3 very close to the same look as the GR & GR2 Positive Film.

GRIII Positive Film Effect. I've been shooting with the camera since mid-March. Although I rarely used the color in-camera effects with my GR and GRII, I'm really enjoying the GRIII Positive Film effect. All of my Positive Film images have been tweaked using the new image controls which I find do a good job of giving me the look I want.

Taking a cue from the charm of classic film photography, Ricoh has equipped the GR III with a variety of simulations that add a unique touch to your digital images. Delving into these film simulations has been a personal joy. Built in picture profiles include: Positive Film, Negative Film, Hi-contrast B&W, Bleach Bypass, Retro, Vivid, and more.

Changes to the 'Positive Film' setting. The GR III also retains the well loved 'positive film' preset from the GR/GR2. But Ricoh have actually changed the look of this film preset. I haven't done side-by-side comparisons, and I'm note sure I'm inclined to do them, since side by side comparisons are a lot of work.

The Ricoh GR III long term review. ... That is, until I used the GR's positive film effect. Now, it's pretty much all I use. I still shoot RAW, but rarely ever feel the need to work them in Lightroom anymore. I've been very happy with the contrasty look that the positive film effect gives me. I typically use it with vividness set to "4

In case you're curious about Positive Film, which is the most popular of these, here's a video that's sure to interest you. As Luke Taylor noted in his video's description, of the 11 picture profiles preloaded in the Ricoh GR III, the Positive Film effect seems to be the most popular among Ricoh shooters. So, to see what the hype is

mrbuttoneye. OP • 4 yr. ago. I've been using the Ricoh GR for the past 6 years. The GR made me move away from RAW+Lightroom and by now I exclusively use the Positive Film effect. Today I've received the new GR and as expected the Positive Film effect looks quite different. To compare the older and the latest version I set both effects to

Broadly speaking, the Ricoh GR III offers at least comparable pixel-level image quality to the best 24MP APS-C cameras in its class. This isn't damning with faint praise - the 16MP sensor in the GR / II was really showing its age, but the GR III's sensor on the other hand is very competitive. Ricoh's 'Std' color profile still isn't great, but a

Ricoh set the Raw Development tools, for any of the effects including Positive Film, to what I assume is a default/average setting. Every image is different, so they give you the option to adjust the various controls (saturation, hue, high/low key adj, contrast, shading and clarity) to your liking. I use High/Low Key Adjustment and Clarity

GR III Positive Film Settings. May 3, 2019. Hello, I bought the GR III about a month and really love it. Ever since I got into photography, I have been using Lightroom and film presets to post process the raw files. With GR III, I would like to start using the camera JPEGs directly.

Also, Positive Film is highly dependent on the detected white balance and has a more profound effect in lower light. This makes the simulation a bit unpredictable and sometimes the results are surprising. And sometimes in a bad way. Coming from the GRII user. My GR III had to go back (lens issue) but I still have my II. Positive film is different in the III. I don't want a flame war but I do prefer the look of the GR II positive film. Maybe if Ricoh hears from enough shooters they will issue a firmware update. Maybe a positive film 1 and 2 setting? Have you tried to edit the positive film settings?

Just downloaded the latest firmware and applied the new Negative Film effect on a few old comparison pictures. The first column is GR I Positive Film, second is GR III Positive Film, the third GR III Negative Film. All default values on the effects. Thank you! Looking forward to trying this myself.
