A typical set for someone just learning how to play golf will include but not be limited to. A driver with a fixed hosel and loft between 10.5 and 12°. Fairway wood, generally a single (18°) 5-wood to be used all over the course. One of the hardest clubs to hit even for skilled players is a 3-wood, so even if one comes with your set, maybe

I build my bag by following the Rule of 3, which is getting discs in each type of disc (putter/mid-range/driver) but in all 3 types of stability as well. So I'll have an understable, stable, and overstable putter. Then I'll get an understable, stable, and overstable mid-range. Keep doing this for all the types of discs.

1) Determine on number of discs you're comfortable carrying. I want to build a bag that doesn't have a ton of discs in it, between 10-12 max. I just feel that for my current needs I don't need anymore than that. Some people haul around these 20+ disc bags and for me that just seems to much. At some point the paradox of choice has to

Overstable Distance Driver - Latitude 64 Ballista. The Ballista is certainly not going to be the most beginner friendly disc, but as you grow into it, you will love the reliability this disc provides! The disc, being overstable, will offer reliable fade for both backhand and forehand shots alike.

Posted February 22, 2017. Obviously depends on the player. If you hit hybrids relatively well, then you should consider 3h, 4h, maybe 5&6 too. I think a lot of mid-high handicaps would do well with 4 or 5w and maybe 7w. Most of us (but not all) mid-high 'caps should probably stay away from traditional long irons. Quote.

Build Out from a Solid Core. Your discs must cover all the shots you will need from your shortest approach to your longest drive. The way I build my bag is to look at the courses I play, and break down which discs will get me, CONSISTENTLY, to the hole in the least number of throws. Sounds pretty basic, and it is. I've got understable, stable, and overstable discs for 200-250, 250-325, and 325+ and between 3 and 4 utility discs for weird shit.
