Absolutely agree, that its a bad idea to buy an old CD player. Philips unit seen in picture was bad from day one, mainly because of analogue part. To answer your question: probably not. And there's no way I'd spend 300 to 400 bucko's on a new CD player. You can probably score and excellent deck in the used market. CD players are not that old in the scheme of things. The best CD player I have is an Oppo upscaling DVD player and a vintage-y Panasonic CD player with MASH.
