Suddenly, a crew of dancers is in the car, twisting, popping-and-locking, and contorting themselves around the subway poles to a pulsating beat. Opinions on subway dancing are mixed: some people love seeing the dancers at work, but others hate them enough to scream at performers to get them to move to a different car.

Litefeet, the dance style, features an acrobatic, upbeat mix of arm and leg movements, jumps and spins, and usually uses shoes, hats or other wearable objects as props. The style emerged from Harlem and bronx street dancers, and can be commonly found in the Subway by groups of performers busking around the train poles.

I've seen them on the Q train several times between Dekalb Ave and Union Square. I catch the Q train from Dekalb Manhattan-bound around 5:15 and they are usually there that time. They start their "performance" when the train is on the Manhattan bridge. I'm also curious as to what we could do about these annoyances.

Some of those kids are extremely talented and you get a (free) dance show that lasts 3-4 minutes maximum: you don't have to watch or pay attention, if you don't want to, either. Bury your face in your phone if you want. If you don't like the grittiness of the city then, truly, you probably don't belong in NYC.

For those unfamiliar with "It's Showtime", it's basically a bunch of the kids similar to the ones in the video. They get in the train & shout "It's Showtime" followed by loud music & dancing. Swinging from poles and handles. Before the train stops at the next station they will ask for money. Sometimes aggressively panhandling but some will just

It's time the police took a harder stance in regards to vagrants who monopolize a car, subway preachers and of course the aforementioned "showtime" dancers. The MTA/NYPD needs to ensure a pleasant ride for the 99.9% of riders who don't cause trouble, and get the troublemakers out of there. Reply reply. Offthepoint.
