Storing Lego in hot temperatures- a short "experiment" with ... - Reddit

Lego suggests not storing Lego in temps over 104 degrees F and I knew my attic would get a lot hotter than that but I wasn't sure how hot or how often. The "experiment". I placed 6 unopened Lego sets in my attic and also put a remote thermometer in my attic and recorded daily highs in the attic as well as outside. The Data.

If I were to make a LEGO fan how would I make it blow air on me?

https://bricks.stackexchange.com/questions/14949/if-i-were-to-make-a-lego-fan-how-would-i-make-it-blow-air-on-me
Building a propeller with lego bricks may be dangerous (perhaps was not your intention but just to warn you). I question the safety of this idea - LEGO holds together really well, but centripetal forces will eventually thrown parts of it. So you will need a cage for the fan blades such that the biggest gap is smaller than the smallest component.

ABS maximum temperature is 80°C (176°F) and melt at 105°C (221°F) Polycarbonate plastic used for transparent bricks melt at 267°C (512.6°F) Since a candle flame has a temperature in excess of 1000°C (1832°F). I would advise against making a candle holder of LEGO bricks. Plastic types are explained on this question.

So it's getting cold..will this be fine when it starts heating - Reddit

Diddlewiddler. •. ABS has a permanent usage temp range between -20 and +60 °C. So yeah, if the heater gets really hot, I'd move it. But if not, some safety space could be enough. Just my two cents from what I've learned in material sciences and my cousin who works on the injection molds for Lego.

Melted Duplo/Lego on a heater help! Info in comments

The duplo melted onto the tin grill, I was able to get the large piece off with a hacksaw blade, but there is now a terrible plastic smell everytime the heater starts up. Looking at the Lego website the plastic is ABS plastic, which has a low melting point, and will just melt and harden over and over, so I can't just burn it off the heater.

It's Sunlight that is the real problem. I think Lego says the upper limit for safety is 40C. I have heard of Lego in a very hot car for a few days all warping enough that the parts wouldn't stay together anymore. Maybe. I'm sure it would be hotter than 40°C in a car. The forecast is for 46° where I live this weekend.

Eurobricks Knights. 533 posts. Country: United States. Posted December 14, 2010. I haven't ever heard of LEGO being damaged by heat or cold within the range of the weather. After about 20 minutes I have a nice, boxed soup of plastic at which point I remove that and place it in my blast furnace. Once that goes on for a bout 5 minutes, I pull out the heap and pour into metal models of Megabloks I purchased off eBay. As for the removing of paint to place stickers, I use hydrochloric acid first, to ensure I strip away
