Ancient forest give treat 2 tempered, while elder recess give treat 3 tempered. You can also follow an elder that dont attack on sight. Kushala, teostra,kirin or vaal i believe dont care for your presence. Kirin is the best option to follow, it never stop, i think. And yes, you wont always get an investigation.

I think this week we get the T2 investigation event quest, but may be wrong. Forget whats it called but its the one where your objective is to collect 10 excusite shroomcaps in the ancient forest. But what it loads the map with tons of tempered tracks. You can easily load your investigations to the brim in a few runs.

First, Tempered Investigations are broken in to three categories. There are easy (one flame), medium (two flames) and hard (three flames) Tempered Invests. OK well there is 2 way. 1. Go to expedition, sometimes there will be tempered tracks. 2. Join people's SOS tempered investigation, as you killed the monster/breaking part or collect the track it will give you investigation. Look for a Tempered Kirin quest, do that quest and follow Kirin around. Kirin is neutral and don't attack you, just keep picking up his tracks till you get random elder dragon investigation quest and keep farming. A pretty good way to hunt for crowns is the guiding lands too.
