I'm having a great time learning to use Reaper, especially with Booth Junkie's videos. I'm on his first Reaper preset video and I'm really enjoying it. He talks about presets, and how once you use them often (Gate, comp, EQ) you can save them at default values for your mic, voice, room etc.

And of course thanks to people like Booth Junkie there are 2 affordable mics which seem tempting in the TZAudio Stellar X2 and the Synco Mic D-2 but my focus for now is in the ones I listed.
