I originally found Mazzy Star from Lana Del Rey. In fact, Lana used to be pretty much all I listened to. I think a few years ago someone over on r/lanadelrey posted the video of Mazzy Star performing Fade Into You at the Shoreline Ampitheatre, and I'm glad they did. I also goes without saying that she would have to cover Fade into You. My understanding is that Lana is a Mazzy Star fan but I can't remember where I read it.

I don't think they sound alike at all really. Different vibe entirely. I'd say the only thing that makes them similar is that they're both kind of psychedelic. Lana is more retro, piano driven, Mazzy Star is WAY more guitar driven and more of a laid back, trippy, beautiful Cali vibe. Both are amazing either way.

Mazzy Star is an awesome band for the Lana fan to check out. A little bit but i'm mostly just hyped to see Hope here. in "quiet, the winter harbor" particularly, hope really sounds similar to lana. i thought it was a lana song when i first heard it haha.
