Kenta Kobashi's ultra-rare super finisher, even more rare than (and created after) the Burning Hammer: The Diamond Head ... Actually, he does. King of Colloseum II has the Diamond Head as part of Kobashi's moveset, but the animation for it is virtually the same as this clip, so nothing as to how the move is supposed to look proper.

Kenta Kobashi Diamond Head. During a match against Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Kenta Kobashi invented a new version of the powerbomb, which was named the Diamond Head. Kobashi lifted Kanemaru onto his shoulder in a powerbomb position, but sat him on his right shoulder, rather than on his head. He then spun him in the air as he dropped him, leading to

Kenta Kobashi's "Diamond Head." A move so dangerous, he never used it against Misawa or Akiyama. ... I swear every AJPW finisher is supposed to obliterate your opponents head/neck ... Reply reply ThusOne1 • IIRC people think Kobashi was suppose to catch him into a DDT but ya, they botched.

I think it was supposed to end in some kind of DDT IIRC. 3. Richeyedwardsmsp. • 8 yr. ago. I thought it was a powerbomb into a sideslam sort of move but because he nearly killed kanemaru with it he never did it again. 3. true.

The match. This match took place on Halloween - October 31, 1998. The crowd is very loud as they do ring introductions, cheering and stomping in support of two of the best wrestlers to grace God's green earth. Both get loud cheers, and Kobashi in particular looks to be in marvelous shape.

Kenta Kobashi started 2005 still as the GHC Heavyweight Championship, but lost the belt to Rikio in March. That would be the last time Kobashi's shoulders were pinned for the remainder of 2005. Mostly teaming with Go Shiozaki towards the middle of the card, the two put on excellent matches against all comers.

But instead of chops, Nakajima fires with kicks to the chest. Twenty in a row. He whips Kobashi into another corner and lands a running dropkick. Then he goes for a standing one, no, Kobashi literally swats him away with a chop. Kobashi applies a Texas Cloverleaf. Sasaki comes in and kicks Kobashi in the head. But Kobashi doesn't break the move.

Fun fact, no one really knows what the Diamond Head was supposed to be, really. But even then, that much is vague.
