The 03 was an awesome Jeep. I had a 4.0 TJ, drove that to 240K before selling, still ran great. My knowledge of the 4.0, and scary stories of WJ V8s dropping valves (and Liberty 3.7s doing it also) let me right into a sweet 2004 WJ with a 4.0 and 93K on the clock. :thumbsup:

When test driving the Jeep, be sure to get it up to 30-50mph for a while to see if death wobble occurs. Early TJ Wranglers are known for their leaky windshield cowl vent. This can allow water inside the cab of your Wrangler during or after a rainstorm. That water can cause rust on the floor pan, as well as mold on the carpet.

The Wrangler JK. By sheer volume, the JK and mostly the JKU (4-door) Wrangler is the most popular because this is the vehicle that took Jeep mainstream. YJ's were stiff, bouncy simple machines. TJs and LJs were slightly more refined and offered a smoother ride to appeal to more buyers.

The Jeep letter designations of TJ indicate the generation for the Jeep; '97-06 (3rd), YJ '87-95 (2nd), JK 07-18 (4th) and CJ '44-86 (1st). There were no names for the Jeep letter designator other than the CJ was dubbed the Civilian Jeep when it was first produced.

Cheapest way to add caster, obviously they're not doing their job in your case. If the Jeep was indeed lifted 6" that's a lot of lift as everyone is saying and one that requires all 8 arms to correct your wheelbase, set caster, fix pinion angles etc etc. and still i don't think standard arms will work on a 6" lift.

It's best to avoid 2012 as the worst production year of the generation and go for the 2011, 2015, and 2016 model years. These didn't have as many airbag issues and didn't receive so much Death Wobble documentation either. The best Jeep Wrangler years are by far 1996, 2001, and 2020, so we'll discuss those models in more detail.

TJ Enthusiast. I don't think there is a best year. Early 2000's were prone to cracked heads, 05 and 06's were prone to OPDA issues but could be easily resolved if caught early enough. 05 and 06 autos were prone to PCM failures. but a new updates PCM is new available.

So in my opinion, I'd MUCH rather have a 2002 or older. I'd prefer a 1997, 2001, or 2002. I skip over '98-00 because those are the years that can't display their own engine & smg system self-diaganostic codes by turning the ignition switch on-off-on three times within five seconds as all other model year TJs can.

The JL was released in 2018 and might just be the best Jeep Wrangler yet. Designed with a host of creature comforts and completely redesigned inside and out it is hard to image a brand new one taking on any off-road trail because they are just so beautiful. Wranglers have come a long way over the past 30 years.
