When writing is done you should see Fig. 10. Power off DSO SHELL and disconnect the connection. Remove the solders on JP1 and JP2. Then apply power to the oscilloscope again. Check if the oscilloscope boots up properly. Verify if the firmware versions are correct. If everything is good the upgrading is done. Fig. 7.

I had to update the firmware on my JYE Tech DSO-150 (aka "DSO SHELL") toy scope, and since it's quite the palaver to have to take it apart, solder bridge JP1 & JP2, connect wires to the UART etc, I made a crude mod to enable me to connect my "Bus Pirate" to the 'scope every time I want to repeat this firmware upgrade procedure.

A1: The current firmware has a bug that cause the 0.1V signal contains a large (3.3V) DC offset. When 0.1V test signal is enabled the trace will jump out of screen area. The workaround is setting the couple switch to AC position. This will block the DC offset and allow you to perform the calibration normally.

Re: JYE Tech DSO150 oscilloscope troubles. Looking at the schematics, I can't help but wonder if the voltage regulator was at fault. The main IC is most probably operating a 3.3V and the LM1117/3.3 voltage regulator should be fine for up to 15V. Also, IIRC several 9V plugpacks from the 1980s put out AC instead of DC.
