When the game was first announced (pre-Kickstarter), it was called project session, and this sub was created. The r/session subreddit was a pre-existing subreddit completely unrelated to the game (forget what it was for exactly). It was a dead sub, and the I think the moderator wasn't responding, so somebody contacted Reddit to take over the sub once the game was renamed to just Session.
