If this keeps up, new jobs are also going to appear. It looks like the entry to do an art job now is going down, but that is probably not true. In my industry, while learning the craft is comparably easier than 20 years ago, the knowledge needed for an entry level jobs is much higher, and so is the salary and responsibilities.

Observations skills, in my personal opinion, is the cornerstone of drawing. Drawing is all about understanding the object you are drawing, its lines and structure. And you can't draw what you don't understand. Observation is all about knowing what an object actually looks like, not what you think it looks like.
